When looking to make any kind of worthwhile purchase, most people will spend some time trying to find a way to save money. While this is certainly worthwhile for many different purchases, you will find that some purchases in life are worth spending a little bit more on.
The saying “buy cheap, buy twice” applies to these purchases, which should be viewed as long-term investments. So, what purchases are always worth the money for me?
Here are some common factors that people consider when determining whether they are worthwhile purchases in 2022:
- Quality – A product that is well-made and built to last is considered a good investment.
- Value for Money – A product that provides good value for its price is considered a worthwhile purchase.
- Utility – A product that is useful and solves a problem is considered a good investment.
- Enjoyment – A product that brings pleasure and enjoyment is considered a worthwhile purchase.
- Personal Significance – A product that holds personal meaning or sentimental value is considered a good investment.
Remember, what has considered a worthwhile purchase varies from person to person, depending on their individual needs, wants, and values.

Increase in Rent
In March of last year, I changed apartments. My old flat was with a housing association and very cheap, at about £405 per month in the city centre. It was so old, up a few flights of stairs, absolutely freezing, and had storage heaters.
I had to move due to building repairs and was offered another in the city centre, this time in a newer block of flats in a very quiet location with a lift and two bedrooms!
It was such a difficult decision as it was quite a bit more expensive, and as I live by myself, I have to weigh up whether it’s worth it. I’ve now been here for nearly a year, and I am so glad I decided to make the move. It’s so nice being in a quiet area with more room. Very worthwhile!

Wheat-bag
A wheat bag is a type of heating pad filled with wheat or a similar grain. Wheat bags are often used for heat therapy to relieve pain, muscle tension, or stress.
They are known for retaining heat for a longer period than hot water bottles.
I use mine for heat and as a comfort around my neck. I don’t use my heating that much, so it’s a great way to save a bit of money alongside a big, snuggly dressing gown! This amazing one that has kept me so warm all winter!
Over-Ear Headphones
These Q30 headphones are amazing in both sound quality and comfort. A simple touch on the side and you can either cancel out everything or keep being involved using transparency (clear sound, but some sounds can be highlighted a little more).
Using the Sound Core app gives you a lot of controls to customize your sound preferences. They also have a sleep function in the app, where you can select different tranquil sounds and switch on noise cancellation.
The battery life is excellent; I used them for a full day and night and believe they could easily last another, but Anker claims 40 hours, which seems about right.
Overall, I am very happy, and I only paid around £50 on Amazon; oh, and mine are pink—what could be better?

Why do I choose public transportation instead of having a car?

I don’t think I’d ever buy a car again because I live so centrally. I also love riding my bike (a lovely little retro green bike I bought myself!) in the summer. It gets me out in the fresh air, and when the sun is out, it’s beautiful.
iPhone 13
This is my favourite phone that I’ve ever had. It’s a small, light, pink, fabulous camera, that has a good battery and is just very sleek. I have tried lots of other phones and used to be a fan of Samsungs, but I am not fully converted to Apple. I love how it syncs with my MacBook and the cloud.

Fitflop Trainers
Fitflop trainers are known for their comfortable fit, thanks to their cushioned soles and supportive design. If comfort is a top priority for you, Fitflop trainers may be a good choice for you, like they are for me.
They last a very long time compared to when I used to buy Skechers. So even though they are a little expensive, it’s worth it in the long run.
MacBook Air
The MacBook Air is by far one of the best things I have bought. I couldn’t do half of my side hustles without it—the number of focus groups and Zoom calls I got through last year was incredible!

- Good Keyboard & Touchpad – MacBook Airs have well-designed keyboards and touchpads that are comfortable and easy to use.
- Security – MacBook Airs come with built-in security features to help protect users’ data.
- Operating System – MacBook Airs come with Apple’s latest operating system, providing access to the latest features and updates.
I bought my Macbook Air 2020 on Amazon, brand new. It was a big expense, but something I will never regret.
